《高級(jí)英語閱讀》系列教材（Advanced English Reading）是以《高等學(xué)校英語專業(yè)英語教學(xué)大綱》為指導(dǎo)，遵照在學(xué)習(xí)語言中使用語言、在使用語言中學(xué)習(xí)語言的客觀規(guī)律，為大學(xué)英語專業(yè)高級(jí)年級(jí)學(xué)生及各個(gè)專業(yè)碩士研究生編寫的閱讀課教材。本教材編寫的指導(dǎo)思想是擴(kuò)大知識(shí)面，打好語言基本功，通過閱讀課的教學(xué)培訓(xùn)學(xué)生獲取知識(shí)的能力、運(yùn)用知識(shí)的能力、分析問題的能力和創(chuàng)新的能力。本教材是以拓寬學(xué)生的人文知識(shí)和科技知識(shí)，提高他們使用英語的綜合能力為目的，所以教師在使用這套教材時(shí)，要鼓勵(lì)學(xué)生積極參與課堂活動(dòng)，大量閱讀，并不斷地寫讀書報(bào)告，做課堂展示，組織討論等活動(dòng)。課文A為精講課文。所謂“精講”，并不是逐字逐句地講解語法，而是將話題延伸或向更深層次控挖掘。教師和學(xué)生可以針對(duì)課文A的話題，了解他人的見解，發(fā)表自己的觀點(diǎn)，盡可能多地了解某個(gè)學(xué)科領(lǐng)域中的一個(gè)突出問題。課文B為介紹性文章，可讓學(xué)生課前閱讀，對(duì)所介紹的學(xué)科有個(gè)精線條的認(rèn)識(shí)，課上可不做處理。課文C為泛讀課文，可讓學(xué)生作課堂匯報(bào)或是組織課堂討論。每個(gè)單元建議用6課時(shí)完成。
