　　本書為《新核心大學(xué)英語讀寫教程基礎(chǔ)級》，面向高中起點的非英語專業(yè)本科學(xué)生。全書共八個單元，供一個學(xué)期使用。每個單元包括MainReading和RelatedReading兩篇課文，每篇課文的長度約為700—800詞。生詞量（包括由熟詞構(gòu)成的合成詞和派生詞）占課文總詞量的4％-5％。要求學(xué)生本學(xué)期新增一般要求和較高要求詞匯約1000個。每個單元后設(shè)計了學(xué)生自我評價表（self-assessmentlog），供學(xué)生對自己的學(xué)習(xí)情況進(jìn)行自我檢測。本教材對各單元中Approaching the Zopic、Understanding theText、Integrated Exercisesi~lWritingStrategy四個部分分別設(shè)計了不同的練習(xí)，對所學(xué)的新語言材料在不同層次上進(jìn)行有針對性的訓(xùn)練。教師可根據(jù)學(xué)生的能力和教學(xué)的實際進(jìn)展情況將這些練習(xí)分別安排在課前、課堂和課后進(jìn)行，對不同任務(wù)練習(xí)的目的和教學(xué)方法請參考與本教材配套的《教師用書》中ZeachingTips部分的說明。
